History
As a nonprofit career and technical student organization, TSA is dedicated to students pursuing careers in engineering and technology. Through TSA, students extend their learning beyond the classroom, engaging in academic challenges, technology-based career development events, and leadership opportunities.
Idaho TSA’s roots trace back to 1978, when it was initially chartered as the American Industrial Arts Student Association (AIASA Inc.). In 1988, AIASA evolved into the TSA, a name that reflects its broadened focus on technology. Today, TSA boasts a membership of over 233,000 middle and high school students, supported by 2,500 teachers across more than 2,000 schools in 49 states. In Idaho, TSA is vibrant and growing, with six middle school chapters and 27 high school chapters, totaling over 580 members.
TSA’s mission is to inspire students to prepare for careers in a technology-driven world. By promoting technical literacy and leadership, TSA advisors help students become successful inventors, designers, creative problem-solvers, and responsible leaders in our technological society. TSA is recognized by numerous prestigious organizations, including the U.S. Department of Education, state departments of education, and various associations such as the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association, and the Association for Career and Technical Education. Additionally, TSA partners with the American Cancer Society for its national service project, demonstrating its commitment to impactful community service.
Mission
TSA enhances personal development, leadership, and career opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), whereby members apply and integrate these concepts through intracurricular activities, competitions, and related programs.

Creed
I believe that Technology Education holds an important place in my life in the technical world. I believe there is a need for the development of good attitudes concerning work, tools, materials, experimentation, and processes of industry. Guided by my teachers, artisans from industry, and my own initiative, I will strive to do my best in making my school, community, state, and nation better places in which to live. I will accept the responsibilities that are mine. I will accept the theories that are supported by proper evidence. I will explore on my own for safer, more effective methods of working and living. I will strive to develop a cooperative attitude and will exercise tact and respect for other individuals. Through the work of my hands and mind, I will express my ideas to the best of my ability. I will make it my goal to do better each day the task before me, and to be steadfast in my belief in my God, and my fellow Americans.
